This is a video game title based of the Japanese anime released in the late 1980's known as "Spirit Hero Wataru." By Hudson Soft for the TurboGrafx-16, {this} was included in the box with the North American version of the system(Wikipedia, 20 April 2008 at 08:58). There wasn't that much of a fuss over this game's quality due to the fact that it came with the system at no extra charge. Think of it as the Wii Sports of the TG16. It's not a great game, but it's free for playing, lolz! Now, this game was meant for children, no? Watching cartoons on a Saturday morning while eating cereal with your little brother. What excitement! And what better to do than to play a game based of an anime? All in all, the game is good. Personally as an adult I get annoyed with some of the cheap shots that happen and the over-simplicity of the controls; however, no one can deny the awesome graphics and the excellent game soundtrack.Read full review
The grafx (pun intended) and sounds are first rate. As one of the few non shooter games on the turbografx, this one is definately one of the best. There is an overworld and underworld level to each world, with each having differing character response times. Thats the only thing to be aware of before buying. Again I must say that the songs from this game are amazing. If you are into retro gaming and games that will kick your butt, you will love this game. Another plus is that you can find it dirt cheap anywhere.
Nor do I, it's a fun little game, and can definitely see why it was packaged with the TurboGrafx 16 to begin with. I would recommend if you can get it for a cheap price to pick it up and judge for yourself, but I believe it to be most referenced to Gundams and junk, which in my opinion is pretty kick ass.
This game is really fun, but has some really tough spots in it. It is also really common for the Turbo Grafx 16 and affordable.
K.C. In Alpha zone, is not one of the best games for the Turbografx not by far. It do have nice grafics and do show off the concoles grafic capacity but the gameplay leave a lot to decire. There are a lot of much better games out there, like the Bonk game series. I only bought it because I whanted a complete copy in the collection as it was in the box with the Turbografx.
